There are so many ways to introduce technology into our homes and yet we can unknowingly sacrifice so much. Buying the latest smart speaker or thermostat from "Big Tech" can be extraordinarily simple to do. Local means that anything in your smart home, shouldn't need to be connected to the internet all the time to function. Private means that all things related to your smart home, should stay in your smart home, on devices that you control. Finally additive means that your smart home shouldn't impede your day to day living. Turning off a light switch should turn off your smart light without breaking the whole setup or needing to use an app to turn the lights off correctly.
